I am building a layout and testing it using a DC locomotive. Using Peco n-scale electrofrog turnouts, the power feed was quite unreliable (sometimes contact was solid and the train ran smoothly, other times it jerked and/or stopped). I cleaned it vigorously without any improvement.
Next I put in bonding wires between the stock rails and the nearest contact closure rail, thinking this would improve electrical flow to the points. This led to disaster as all shorted out. I have no idea why. Electrical flow comes from the point ends. There are insulated rail joiners on the inside of the diverging rails.
I am not at all electrical and find the idea of putting a switch to control an electrically isolated frog quite intimidating. There are no directions I know of on doing this with tortoise switch machines and my construction has ground to a halt!. Help!
This railroad is only worked on during weekends and holidays. PLEASE USE step by step illustrations. I have just been wiring a new layout,
Following the lines of the old layout, but , there must be something wrong with the wiring.. as the Locos ,all of them, keep stalling on the livefrog points. I have done my best with cleaning the rails, but to no effect. Alec TricianAlec Tricianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08381483997005151683noreply@blogger.com
